Equipment and Technologies

The equipment needed will be two high quality cameras with tripods. By using two cameras it cuts down the filming time and gives us different angles to capture our intended images.

Our editing will be produced on Apple Macs. The software will be iMovie. This allows us to edit our work and link scenes together smoothly. A standard PC will also be used to design our ancillary tasks.

To upload our work, Blogger will be used. This allows us to show both film and documents easily and can easily be looked at.

Production Plan

Production team:
Ben Stanhope, Robyn Prattis, Joe Davis, David Mills

Characters
Max played by: Joe Davis
Max is shown as a jock or a sporty boy and this is seen as the cool to the other characters and more importantly the male audience. He will be portrayed as being friendly and fun. The male audience will aspire to him.

Izzi played by Jade Holland
Izzi is the girly-girl of the group and is popular because of this. She is also interested in fashion, hair and beauty and her main concerns are her looks. A lot of young girls at this age experience the same sort of thing so they can relate to her. This is a good reason for her to be represented in a positive way.

Dean played by: Ben Stanhope
Dean is the bully of the school. He generally wears leather and band t-shirts and anything black. Dean is shown as being bad and some of the audience will take a disliking towards him. He picks on the other characters and constantly disrupts. He is seen in a negative way to show the audience not to behave like this.

Molly played by: Becky Sutcliffe
Molly is a typical nerd whose main interests are maths and science, subjects that not many of the audience will particularly like. Molly is determined to do well at school. This sets a positive example to the audience. She wears glasses, shirt and tie. She has her hair in pigtails to show she is nerdy and childlike, the audience should find this funny.

Izzi - Plain top with pink cardigan, jeans, plimsolls.

Locations and Risk Assessment

All of the filming will be taken place in a high school, inside and outside of the premises, because this location, we feel, the target audience will relate to and also reach out to a wider audience. Many parts of the school will be used so that the viewer doesn’t get bored of the same scenery and it gives a more professional look to the opening sequence. Having many locations within the building and outside of the building gives us a wider range of shots. The location plays a big part in our opening sequence as it gives a realistic place to where the show is taking place and the audience will be able to relate to school life.

Risk Assessment

Corridor
Need to film during lesson time with a handful of selected extras. Make sure there is nothing to trip people over, no slippery serfaces for people to slip on.

Classroom
Make sure there is nothing to trip over, ie, chairs, tables, cables etc. Make sure nothing preventing the actress turning around.

Toilets
Make sure there are no slippery surfaces. Make sure the place is clean and in good hygiene. Make sure there are going to be no other people walking into the shot. Only females allowed to film in the toilets. The boys can stand outside telling people that there is filiming going on.

Basketball Court
Make sure there is nothing to trip over. Make sure actors shoe laces are tight so they dont come undone to cause him to trip over. Make sure that the ball is thrown gently to the actor so it wont injure him or break equipment. Make sure the basketball hoop isnt going to fall over as the actor scores the hoop, weight accordingly.

Front of School
Film in sunny conditions in order to aviod wet or icy conditions, this will provent accidents. Make sure that there is going to be nothing to trip over or injure the cast.

Audiovisual

Characters:
There will be 4 main characters, each of different stereotypes. To reinforce that the show is unisex, there will be an equal mix of boys and girls. The characters stereotypes are -
- Popular girl (Izzi): good looking, boys fancy her.
- Sporty boy (Max): good looking, girls fancy him.
- Geek (Molly): girl, glasses, clothed stereotypically
- Bully (Dean): the 'bad kid', wears lots of black. ‘emo-esk’

Plot:
Shows each of the characters individually and then together at the end. Each of their personalities are shown. For example Izzi will be doing her make-up and hair as this is something that makes her feel good about herself.

Music:
Fast, up-beat song to show the audience that the show is fun and exhilarating.

Script

Sporty Guy (Max): Max will be introduced playing basketball. he will score a basket which will therefore represent him as one of the cool kids in school. Max will be dressed in sporty clothing and similarly to Izzi will be represented as a popular person. He will then smile at the camera and his name will appear in a blue simple font. With Max doing sport, it gives a faster pace to the programme.

Popular Girl (Izzi): Izzi will be shown looking into the mirror in the girls toilets, she will be posing into the mirror and sorting her hair to show how she is all about her looks to be the popular girl. Her fashion will be maintained in order for her to keep up her popular appearance, with her main item of clothing being a pink cardigan or jacket, the choice of pink shows that she is feminine. The generalises Izzi as being vein. She will then blow a kiss to the camera and her name will appear above in a curly, pink writing to represent her femininity.

Geek (Molly): Molly is introduced solving mathematical equations on the whiteboard in a classroom. She will be wearing geeky styled clothes such as glasses, a shirt and a tie. Her hair will be in pig-tails as children will find this funny and geeky. Molly will then smile at the camera and her name will appear in a curly orange font. The orange is a jaunty colour making it more of a ‘geeky’ styled colour as it doesn’t fit in with most other colours, thus reflecting on the character’s profile.

Bully (Dean): Dean is introduced making fun of people. He will be giving people ‘evil eyes; and will be one his own showing that bullies don’t have friends. He will be wearing a t-shirt with a black leather jacket. Billy will look at the camera and his name will appear in a black bold font such as 'Rockwell' to represent his personality.

After each character is introduced, there is a wide-shot of all of them jumping to reinforce the name of the show "Jump-Up High", this will then freeze into a still-shot of all the characters. The location of the ‘jump scene’ will be in front of the school to show where it is set. Again supporting ‘Jump-Up High’, as it will be set in a high school.

Colour Scheme

To the left are my colour schemes that i could use on my products.
Green, Blue, Light Green is a more masculine then feminine so will appeal more to the males that will purchase the magazine. Because the children are young, the bright colours will make it stand out to them.
Purple, Pink, Blue are more feminine so they will be good to catch the female audience. Again I have used bright colours to make it more attractive to them.
Green, Red, Purple are universal. Green is a colour that would work well to catch the female and male audience. Using the red and purple will then reach to both of the sex’s and stand out equally.
Yellow, Pink, Red colours are that constrast each other. They dont work well together to an older audience, but to a younger audience who like to see colours that clash this works well.
Light Pink, Dark Pink, Red work well together and are soft shades of the colours. Using the red gives it a slight masculine tinge to it, but it is more feminine because of the shades of colour.

Fonts

To the left are some fonts that i have researched for my ancillary tasks. I have used bold styled fonts as they are clear to read. Having big bold writing is essential as this capture the attention more than delicate fonts. i have tried to use 'child-like' fonts so that the product will have a sense 'fun' to it. Fonts like MV Boli and Kristen ITC look child-like. Although Comic Sans Ms doesnt look like childrens hand writing, children like to use this font a lot as it has a sense of fun compared to a simple styled font. Taking into acount that children dont like the simple fonts and like funkier styled fonts, close to their hand writing, Comic Sans MS, MV Boli, Viner Hand ITC and Kristen ITC can all be used as they arent just simple bold fonts.

Ancillary Tasks - Drafts

DVD Drafts.
Below are my two drafts for my DVD covers. After researching DVD covers i found that DVDs conventionally follow the route of the eye, like the magazine covers. This means that the DVD will follow most of the conventions that the magazine will have. The image will still pass through the hotspots of the DVD, which will make the image have the most attention drawn to it, just as the masthead will be in the same place. At the bottom the terminal optical area is located, again i will use this knowledge to base my own on. Using this information, i have applied it to my drafts. I have made my covers look fun and clear to read to the audience as this is important to make the target audience want to purchase my DVD. I have also made it appealing to the audience by showing the audicence that this is the first time on DVD and its from the CBBC channel which a most of my target audience will watch. Again this will make the audience take into account what the content of the DVD is. My drafts are quite ordered because this will appeal to the older side of my target audience, yet the off centre coverlines will make it look more cluttered to make it appealing to the younger target audience.
